SOFTBALL

Hortonville 9, Appleton East 4

APPLETON - Hannah Meshnick was 4-for-4 with three RBI as the Polar Bears built a 7-0 lead into the fourth inning en route to the win.

Allison Hafeman and Bella Dontje were 2-for-3 with Hafeman adding two RBI and Dontje one. Maggie Werner was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Meshnick and Werner hit home runs for Hortonville.

Abby Gronert powered the Patriots, going 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, while Clare Rettler added two RBI.

Meshnick also pitched five innings to get the win. She allowed two hits, one run and struck out five.

Fond du Lac 15, Appleton North 0

FOND DU LAC - The Cardinals’ Susan Vokes struck out eight batters over four innings in Fond du Lac’s win over the Lightning.

Allie Brandner led Fond du Lac with three hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBI. Rachel Abel also had three hits.

Millie Kumber and Kaelyn Berner both had two hits for Fond du Lac. Both had two RBI, with Berner also scoring three runs. Jenna Guelig and Vokes also had a pair of hits.

Ella Nissen took the loss for Appleton North.

Winneconne 10-15, Berlin 0-4

WINNECONNE - Macey Clark allowed just four hits while striking out nine as the Wolves cruised to the five-inning win in the first game of their doubleheader sweep.

The Wolves scored five times in the second and four in the third to seal the victory. Aubrie Halder was 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Norah Kutnink was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Winneconne scored eight runs in the second inning to take control of the second game.

Halder, Jordan Biesinger and Isabella Schaffer each drove in three runs for the Wolves. Maddox Stille had three hits.

Kutnink was the winning pitcher in the second game. She pitched five innings, gave up five hits, no earned runs and struck out three.

St. Mary Catholic 12, Manitowoc Lutheran 10

MANITOWOC - The Zephyrs took advantage of Lancers errors to score twice in the eighth inning and pick up the win.

Nevaeh Saringer had a two-out RBI single and Rhiannon Reichenbacher had an RBI double after an error allowed the inning to continue.

Taylor Foord had a two-RBI single in the third inning for SMC. Chloe Vogel and Reichenbacher had RBI singles in the fifth.

Vogel and Reichenbacher each had two hits. Vogel scored three runs, and Reichenbacher had three RBI.

Saringer came on in relief of Reichenbacher in the seventh inning and got the win. She allowed one earned run.

The Zephyrs turned three double plays on defense in the first five innings.

Madison Luebke had three singles and a double for Manitowoc Lutheran, while teammate Aubry Schleis had two triples and a single and drove in two runs. Sam Siehr also had two RBI.

Hilbert/Stockbridge 17, Cedar Grove-Belgium 2

CEDAR GROVE - The Wolves piled up 15 hits in their four-inning win over the Rockets.

Lillian Sheets, Aubree Diedrich and Anna Aldrete each had three hits for Hilbert/Stockbridge. Sheets had a triple and three RBI, Diedrich had two RBI and Aldrete had two doubles and four RBI.

Anna Aldrete got the win for Hilbert/Stockbridge.

Katelyn Morris took the loss for Cedar Grove-Belgium.

BASEBALL

Appleton North 17, Oshkosh West 0

OSHKOSH - Griffin Smith allowed one hit and struck out 11 to pitch the Lightning to the victory.

Brock Salm had three hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs for North. Trent Mullen added two hits and three RBI, and Nathan Schopf hit a home run.

Ben Frantal and Ben Tomasetti each added two hits for North, and Garrett Hietpas had two RBI.

Menasha 13, New London 4

MENASHA - Bo Carlson, Bryce Duszak and Ryan Johnson each had two hits in the Bluejays’ win over the Bulldogs.

Lane Boucher drove in three runs for Menasha. He also had a double. Duszak had a double and AJ Korth added two RBI.

Jason Breier pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on seven hits to get the win for Menasha.

Ethan Herzfeldt and Owen Batten both had two hits for New London.

Cooper VanElzen took the loss, allowing six runs in 3⅔ innings.

West De Pere 6, Seymour 4

DE PERE - The Phantoms scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to break a tie en route to the victory.

Nine West De Pere players had hits in the game.

Benje Hencke pitched five innings to get the win for West De Pere. He allowed two hits, four runs (one earned) and struck out three.

Jacob Woldt had two hits and scored two runs for Seymour.

Denmark 11, Little Chute 3

DENMARK - Denmark overcame a 2-0 deficit with a seven-run second inning as Izaac Dittmer had a two-run double and Luke Miller had an RBI double and Abe Kapinos an RBI single in the inning.

Rheis Johnson was 3-for-4 and Miller 2-for-3 with two RBI for Denmark. Ethan Ovsak was the winning pitcher, going five innings, striking out four.

Owen Arendt had a double for Little Chute. He also took the loss on the mound.

Chilton 6, Roncalli 2

CHILTON - The Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to get the victory.

Max Mueller had three hits and an RBI, and Alex Breckheimer hit a three-run double and finished with four RBI to lead the Tigers over the Jets.

Chilton improved its record to 6-0.

Austin Grube pitched 2⅓ innings in relief to get the win. He struck out five, did not give up a hit and allowed only an unearned run.

Cedar Grove-Belgium 11, Hilbert 1

HILBERT - Cedar Grove-Belgium used a five-run sixth to blow open a close game and seal the victory. Parker Knight led the Rockets’ offense, going 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI, including a double and two stolen bases.

Kaelin VandenWyngaard was 2-for-2 to lead Hilbert.

Pittsville 6, Weyauwega-Fremont 4

PITTSVILLE - Evan Haley was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Panthers built a 5-0 lead after three and held on from there.

Quinn Dittmann led Weyauwega-Fremont, going 3-for-4, while Chris Gunst doubled and drove in two runs.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Mary Catholic 3, Random Lake 1

RANDOM LAKE - Megan Roloff scored two goals and Erin Bahn added another as the Zephyrs built a 2-0 lead en route to the win.

Lizzy Pieper scored for Random Lake.

St. Mary Catholic outshot Random Lake 8-7 as Greta Norville made six saves for the Zephyrs and Catherine Pieper had four for Random Lake.

SMC is 5-2-1 overall, including 2-1 in the Big East Conference.
