This project begins with clay terra cotta pots. You can use any size you’d like. Feel free to change up the paint colors too!

To begin, I scuffed up the pot with a light grit sandpaper and cleaned it off to make sure no oils or fingerprints were left behind.

Then, I taped off the top section of the pot with painter’s tape. Feel free to cover as little or as much of the pot as you’d like.

Y’all know I love a bit of bling!

So I grabbed my gold spray paint and added a gold edge to the pot.

Be sure to spray the inside rim of the pot as well.

Time to remove the tape.

I am loving this color because it is gold but it looks like some silver in it too.

You can see it a bit in these photos.

Once the tape was removed, I realized I over-sprayed the bottom of the pot way more than expected.

So, I decided to add a quick mist of gold on the rest of the pot. That helped a lot and made the color look a bit more evened out.

Here you can see how the edge and inside have full coverage and the rest of the pot has just a bit.

Next, add a small amount of the Silk All-In-On-Paint in the color Anchor along with a few sprays of water to your palette (aka Foam Plate).

With the Silk All-In-One-Paint you only want to add a very small amount of water. Here you can see how I added paint to my brush and then dipped it in the water to make a bit of a wash.

Then, I got my paper towel ready by bunching it up. This will help create the texture you want on the pot.

Now add the watered-down paint to the bottom portion of the pot, being careful to avoid the gold trim at the top.

This is the light coverage you are looking to add with the wash.

Next, dab the scrunched-up paper towel onto the surface of the pot. This step is what will create the texture on the pot. You can see how I got a bit on the edge as I dabbed the paint. That’s okay! Just use a damp paper towel and carefully wipe off the edge before the paint dries. Works like a charm!

I think the overspray ended up being a happy accident!

I am loving the way the clay, gold, and black create a nice texture.
